The Wizard Of Oz: A Jazz Musical for All Ages
EXTENDED TILL June 16, 2018
Based on L. Frank Baum’s book and the Classic Motion Picture (with lyrics and music by Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen) owned by Turner Entertainment Co. and distributed in all media by Warner Bros., the Harlem Repertory Theatre (HRT) invites you to join us for an exciting jazz adaptation of one of the greatest musicals ever written, the great film The Wizard of Oz. Strap on your ruby slippers and join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion and Toto too, for this adaptation of The Wizard of Oz: A Jazz Musical for All Ages.
Everyone loves the classic story of the girl who wakes up in a strange land filled with witches and wizards, munchkins and monkeys — and befriends a scarecrow with no brain, a tin man without a heart and a cowardly lion in her quest to find her way back home.
Journey down the yellow brick road through the land of Oz to meet the Wizard while humming along to memorable songs from the Oscar-winning film, including “Over the Rainbow,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard” and “If I Only Had a Brain.” The whole family will enjoy this one-hour version now playing at the Harlem Repertory Theatre in New York.
Garage parking available on the premises for just $10. The Theatre is located just a few blocks from 125th and Lennox Avenue where some of the city’s finest restaurants are located.
Since The Yip Harburg Foundation premiered a new stage adaptation of THE WIZARD OF OZ in the Fall of 2016, at the Harlem Repertory Theatre, the response has been enthusiastic. See the reviews at NiteLife Exchange, Stage Buddy, The Broadway Blog, Huffington Post and Times Square Chronicles. The show has been extended through 2017. Visit the Harlem Repertory Theatre web site for details. 240 E 123rd St., New York, NY.
